Shipping Internationally Made Easy with Shippo!

Last week I sold a few of my 'you are capable' anxiety notebooks. I did my lil' happy dance, logged onto Shippo to buy the shipping labels, and gasped.

One of the customers lived in CANADA.


Listen, I know I'm being dramatic, but to be completely honest I had never shipped to anyone outside of the U.S. before. I was clueless; the process seemed difficult, expensive, and I didn't even know if it was something I could do online. I sighed, grabbed my car keys, and decided it would be easier to make the 22 1/2 hour drive to hand deliver the item instead.

...I'm kidding, of course.

My eye caught the Shippo autofill section before I resorted to that. Here's what it said:

USPS First Class International Service? For just under $14?! Hold on a minute.

I clicked on the arrow and discovered a few more options with both USPS and UPS:

I selected the cheapest option, printed out the label, and placed it in my mailbox for my postman to pick up (I didn't even have to leave my home!). I took a sigh of relief—that really wasn't difficult at all.

But now I was curious...

How much was it to ship to Spain?! To Italy? Or even AUSTRALIA? I had to learn more. I decided to look up a random Starbucks in Barcelona to aid in my investigation (thanks, Starbucks in Rambla de Canaletes, LOL). Here's the entire process from start to finish:

Step 1: Log onto Shippo (If you don't already have an account, sign up is FREE!).

Step 2: Click 'Create Label' at the top right corner.

Step 3: Input the recipient's address and press continue.

Step 4: Locate the 'Items' category and click 'Add items to customs'

Step 5: Fill in the details of the items in the order and click 'Add Item'.

Step 6: Fill in the package details (dimensions, weight, etc.)

Step 7: Enter necessary shipment options (date, add signature confirmation, insurance, etc.)

All done! Your rates will be automatically generated and you are free to select the best option for you.

Long story short, I have officially learned that shipping to anywhere in the world is not only easy, but it's really not as expensive as I thought it would be (shoutout to Shippo's discounted rates👍) and it's doable from the comfort of my own home (I may or may not have still been in my pajamas when I fulfilled my Canadian customer's order LOL).

Anyway, ya really learn something new every day when you run your own business, and I'm so glad I get to share it with you all! I hope this saves you time, money, and eliminate the stress when you see a customer from Australia make a purchase (doesn't stop the jealousy though, who doesn't want to live in a place with kangaroos?!).
